And so it Begins: The Race to Make as Many Homemade Gifts as Possible as a Homeschool Family

And what does this teach?

  • Creativity; Inventiveness.
  • Frugality.
  • Love.
  • How to make do with what you have.
  • Reducing waste, reusing materials; Recycling.

We have a few tied fleece children’s throw blankets that we no longer need, so we are going to reuse the materials to make tied fleece pillows for my nieces. I also have a whole box of fluff that has been taking up space for a few years.

Right now, my nephew is un-tying the blankets. Then we will wash them well, dry them, and take the lint brush to them. After that, we will cut one down to size to make a couple of pillows and, hopefully, a couple of smaller blankets. The two smaller blankets will be made into bigger pillows for the two older nieces. We will see what all we can do. We may not be able to do the blankets. If not, we can make two bigger blankets for the girls.

I will post pictures when the projects are finished. Maybe some of you would enjoy the project as well.
